Sunshine Smiles is committed to the prevention of tooth decay and protection of beautiful little smiles in every patient. We believe cavities are a preventable disease, so our main goal is to make oral hygiene fun and habitual. Dr. Kristin and Dr. Alvarez are the highest trained and the only pediatric dentists in Brevard County with Diplomate status.
We are a team of compassionate professionals (many of us moms!) who absolutely adore kids. Your child is precious to us, and we will do everything possible to ensure that your child’s dental visits are pleasant and rewarding experiences every time.
“Making one person smile can change the world—maybe not the whole world, but their world.”
Dr. Kristin, Dr. Alvarez and the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, AAPD, recommend that your child visit the dentist by his/her 1st birthday! You can make the first visit to the dentist enjoyable and positive.
Have you ever seen a kid look forward to visiting the dentist? We see it every day! Why? Just look around and you will see we make visits to the dentist fun for kids. (That’s right we said fun!) It starts the moment they come in the door.
The team will inform you of the visit before the visit and Dr. Kristin, Dr. Alvarez and team will explain procedures and answer all questions—the fewer to-dos during the visit, the better. It is best if you refrain from using words around your child that might cause unnecessary fear, such as needle, pull, drill or hurt. Sunshine Smiles makes a practice of using words that convey the same message, but are pleasant and non-frightening to the child. We welcome parents back!
The office schedules appointments at your convenience and when time is available. Preschool children should be seen in the morning because they are fresher and we can work more slowly with the child for their comfort. School children with a lot of dental work to be done should be seen in the morning for the same reason. Dental appointments are an excused absence.
Since appointment times are reserved exclusively for each patient we ask that you please notify our office 24 hours in advance of your scheduled appointment time if you are unable to keep your appointment. We realize that unexpected things can happen, but we ask for your assistance.
We make every effort to provide a treatment plan that fits your timetable and budget, and gives your child the best possible care. We ask that you pay for office visits and treatment at the time the service is rendered. We accept most credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express, CareCredit), cash, checks or debit for your convenience.
If you anticipate a problem in paying for services, please discuss this in advance with our receptionist, as we offer a few possible financing options. We will do our best to review your payment options to accommodate your financial needs.
Dr. Kristin and Dr. Alvarez are preferred providers for AETNA, Ameritas, CIGNA, Delta Dental, DHA, Guardian, and MetLife. In the event that we are not a provider for your insurance, you will pay in full at time of service and we will provide you with a claim form for you to submit. Your insurance company will reimburse you directly.
In any instance you will need to be prepared to pay any amount that is determined not payable by your insurance plan, such as deductibles and percentages, or procedures not covered under your plan.
MOST IMPORTANT, please keep us informed of any insurance changes such as policy name, insurance company address, or a change of employment.
