Stage 1.  Stage 1 usually occurs over the first six months of your baby’s life. During this time, they already have all their primary teeth, but they’re concealed in the gums.

Stage 2.  Stage 2 happens when your baby is 6-8 months old. Usually, you’ll see their first tooth erupt during this stage. The central incisors, which are the front teeth in the upper and lower arches, are the first to erupt. After that, the other teeth appear, starting with the side teeth.

Stage 3.  Stage 3, which occurs at 10-14 months of age, is when the baby’s first molars erupt. Your baby may be fussier, and may drool more than usual during this time. Some babies may also try to chew on nearly anything they can get their hands on. This is an attempt to ease the discomfort, and is completely normal. Your child might be restless and eat less when growing new molars, which is also normal.

Stage 4.  In stage 4, which spans the 16-22 month time in your child’s life, their canine teeth erupt. They may continue to be fussier than usual during this time and may still be restless.

Stage 5.  In stage 5, which is around 25-33 months, the most difficult part of teething happens. Your child’s secondary molars erupt and often cause considerable fussiness, along with sleepless for both you and your baby.
